6th Annual LATIN DANCE AUSTRALIA BALL
Latin Dance Australia is proud to present for the sixth time, the prestigious Latin Dance Australia Ball, held at the Metro Theatre on Friday 15th of September 2006.
WHAT IS THE LDA BALL 2006?
The LDA Ball is held in honour of LDA's beloved students and is a tribute to the passion and effort they have put into both LDA and Latin culture in Sydney.
The Ball was created to showcase the many talents of our students whom we have seen grow over the years in their skill and passion for Latin dance. In response to their talent, our instructors chose to teach performance classes, its specific purpose being to make them the stars of night.
“Nothing is as exciting and rewarding as teaching your own students to perform, something we love doing, for you and for hundreds of people” – Marcia Pinheiro Percival (Director)

WHAT DO I DO TO BE PART OF THIS EVENT?
A student may choose to perform as many choreography as they wish in accordance to their level and availability. All you have to do is to make the difficult choice of selecting a choreography you would like to be part of, from the list below:
Each of these 'Performance classes' will run as a 12 class course (except Hip Hop that goes for 12 hours),
one class a week until the students are ready to perform. Should the Performer Program take more then 12 classes to master, $18 per class will apply thereafter for subsequent classes.
The Performer Program class requires teamwork, dedication, patience and effort from all involved. During the classes, the students will receive intense individual and personal attention from the instructors to ensure that they focus on specific areas requiring improvement. Important skills will be taught in a more detailed fashion. These include:
1. Posture
2. Projection
3. Expression
4. Balance
5. Sharpness
6. Memorization
This is a great chance for you to improve your dance style and technique dramatically, whilst also learning essential performance skills, designed to make you stand out whether on the stage or on the dance-floor.

FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES
On the past 5 years LDA has being producing most of the Latin Dancers, Performers and Instructors in Sydney Salsa industry.
LDA is formed by the highest caliber of Latin and Brazilian performers and instructors in Australia who are passionate about Latin American dancing and its culture.
LDA has significantly influenced the Latin and Salsa scene in Sydney and Australia with their world class teaching methods turning them into the leading authority of Latin Dance in this country. We proud ourselves to be the producer of most of the instructors and performers today in Sydney and most of them started by learning at LDA Ball since 2001 when we launch this event for the first time ever in the world.
The LDA Ball has given the students great opportunities to perform in major annual Festivals in Sydney, Australia and overseas, such as:
• Salsa Spectacular at Forum Fox Studios– May
• L.A. Salsa Congress – USA - May
• Brazilian Festival – Olympic Park - Sep
• Fiesta – Darling Harbour - Oct
• Rico Festival – Fairfield Showground- Nov
• World Salsa Championships Las Vegas- USA - Dec
• Tropicana Festival – SA – Dec
• LDA Xmas Party at LDA studios - Dec
• Bacardi Latino Festival at Darling Harbour– pre party – Darling Harbour - Jan
• Sydney Salsa Congress at Olympic Park – Jan
• Brazilian Carnival at Metro Theatre – Feb
• South American Festival at Bondi Pavillion– Feb
The achievement that our students are reaching today is higher then many professionals on the industry. A good example of that was in 2005 when Jaime Jesus selected our advanced student’s team to compete at the Australian Salsa Championships amongst professional and some students teams from around Australia. Our Advanced student’s team got 1st Place getting the rights to compete this time in Las Vegas against the World Salsa Pro team’s championships and there they got placed no less then 4th. What an achievement!
We hope you will have a great time in our performer courses and be prepared to become a winner dancer!
GENERAL INFORMATION
In the event you discover you would prefer to change the choreography decision you made, we will transfer the credit of your course to another choreography that suits you best. Course fees are however non-refundable as we commit resources to the courses based on student numbers.
After you have reached your decision about which choreography you would like to be involved in, we will require your full commitment until the Ball, as we will need to organize certain show details such as: number of couples and individuals per choreography, set up positions and organize costumes. Students performers do not pay entry fee on the night.
