Sydney Latin Festival Highlights
Another gigantic success!

LATIN DANCE AUSTRALIA SETS THE STANDARD YET AGAIN

Sydney Latin Festival was a great success not just for the organisors but also for Latin Dance Australia.
With over 130 performers ranging from Beginners students to our World Champion Professionals, LDA showcased why it is recognised as one of the leading Latin Dance Companies around the world.
Salsa, Bachata, Samba, Reggaeton and Zouk where styles that LDA featured with its a mazing crew.
The standard showcased and set by our performers was recognised by many industry leaders and our International guest.

MAJOR highlights this year where our AUSTRALIAN SALSA CHAMPIONS Mitch and Ellicia,

AUSTRALIAN BACHATA and LATIN TEAM CHAMPIONS Modus Vivendi,

AUSTRALIAN AND WORLD SALSA SHINES CHAMPIONS Modus Vivendi Ladies and

WORLD BACHATA CHAMPIONS Nestor and Katrina.

SAMBA at LDA has never been stronger with Samba Beginners and Intermediate representing in huge numbers. LDA Samba Pro Team returned to the SLF stage and blew everyone away with their AMAZING routine. So amazing that even our local Brazilian Samba Queen Marcia Percival was left astonished by what she saw.

SALSA was represented by our Salsa Beginners, newly formed SALSA SWAT and arguably the highest calibre Salsa Student team in Australia, Modus Vivendi Project. Our On2 contingent also rocked SLF with our Ladies On2 Shins and LDA's On2 Pro Team which featured LDA's "Call upon for everything" lady Lidia McMahon. We also witness the return to the stage of one of Australia's favourite couples ... Jaime Jesus and Little Liz.

BACHATA was the word on Thursday night as 40 strong team brought the house down on with a huge BACHATA STUDENT showcase!

ZOUK was well represented by our fantastic Zoukora and Zouk Sensation teams.

CROWD FAVOURITES HIP HOP and REGGAETON performances also showed why LDA's is the most diverse Latin Dance School in Australia.

We would like to extend a HUGE congratulations to our director JAIME JESUS and his team for putting on yet another awesome SYDNEY LATIN FESTIVAL.

THANK YOU to all our teams and performers for representing LDA so well and making us all proud.

What is Bachamilonga? It is a fusion of Bachata and Milonga. What is Milonga? It is the dance form that generated Tango - a cheeky and sophisticated dance, with an upbeat feel. When combined, these two styles contrast AND blend surprisingly well on the social dance floor. This new dance style was inspired by the creation of BACHAMILONGA music in Italy a few years ago. Bachamilonga can be danced to Bachamilonga music AND regular Bachata music. A good leader should be abl

e to lead Bachamilonga steps on the social dance floor to a follower who has never seen or heard of Bachamilonga!! New Bachamilonga steps can be learnt within minutes.

~ Bachamilonga I - beginner/foundations ~
By adding some milonga to your bachata you will discover new flavours and double your bachata power! Think of Milonga as a spice that you can add to your social Bachata. Discover how the two styles compliment each other and take your bachata to the next level. For beginners to advanced dancers.

~ Bachamilonga II - intermediate/creativity ~
Now that you have foundation in bachamilonga, it's time to get creative! Learn how to listen to the music, to your partner, create a conversation on the dance floor... Learn vital syncopations required to unlock the music and find new expression when you are social dancing. Attendees are highly encouraged to have done Bachamilonga I before doing this workshop.

THURSDAY, 26th of APRIL

OFFICIAL PRE-PARTY Best place to start the celebrations. Join us for dinner with all the Internationals (Domenic Marte, Ataca, La Alemana, Troy, Jorjet, Fabrice, Joanna and Serena).
Dinner starts at 7pm.
