However when dance classes are on the agenda, The cold or the rain is hardly a contender. Dancing is my nutrient it is something I need, Just like air, water, and food for my survival indeed! |

LDA BALL 2011 LAUNCH
There are almost 200 students readying themselves for the 14 week journey of fun, excitement, hard work and persistence to pull together a showcase evening of Latin Dancing for an audience of up to 1200 people!
The performance excitement is building, with the finalities being discussed for the students on their last minute choreography choices and the instructors with their music and themes.
IF YOU ARE NOT YET BOOKED IN – Hurry!! Some choreography courses have already closed bookings due to large numbers, but it is still not too late to play your part in the Latin Dance extravaganza.

On a personal note...
One of my own personal dance highlights in recent weeks, and there have been many, was the all day ‘styling workshop’ that we had launched for ladies only! My morning began with realizing that there were a massive 50 women booked in for this all day event! Now, for those not well familiar with the women in the Latin Dancing world, allow me to elaborate that 50 women coming to learn their part in the beautiful world of partner dancing is something very inspiring!!
In my experience woman have too often resigned to the fact that:
(a) Men = Lead.
(b) Woman = follow.
Sure, that’s true to some degree, but Latin dancing – no matter what style, is not just about the men telling the women what to do, I mean after all, as a society we have moved into a new era of ‘equal rights & shared responsibility’ then why shouldn’t the women take responsibility for themselves on the dance floor as well, rather than relying solely on the man to create the dance?!
I think of dance as a physical conversation between 2 people, both having equal contribution to the direction, feel and creation of these moment of connection, joy and expression.
The best thing about these ‘conversations’ is that each time you dance with a different person you have a different conversation!
The trouble is, if women only followed then it would be like the men talking to himself – before long he will get utterly bored and look for a new hobby!
Many times over the years, I have had conversations with our leading man of the dance floor who are seeking partners to dance with that are not just followers but rather dancers!
So, Thank you ladies for coming along and wanting to expand your own following role, skills, talents and expressions on the dance floor, so that next time you dance with a leading man, you are able to be a brilliant contribution and help create some dance floor magic!
