The dancer/performer
Allan Dantas started dancing in Brazil in the year 2000 in Brasilia, the capital city of Brazil. With a background in Zouk, Salsa, Samba de Gafieira, Bolero, Forro, Tango, Soltinho and Cha Cha, Allan started his teaching career in 2002 as a trainee instructor for Salsa, Samba de Gafieira, Bolero and Zouk.
His first national performances were at the Brazilian Salsa Congress in 2001 and 2002.
The person
After obtaining a diploma in Business Management from one of the 3 top universities in Brazil in 2003, Allan decided to put his dancing career aside for a little while to do a post graduation course in Natal, a coastal city in the wonderful northeastern region of Brazil. Not long after he finished his studies Allan started travelling to cities nearby to keep dancing and learning from the best instructors in the region and also in the main events in Brazil, as there weren’t options to learn and to social dance in Natal back then.
After bringing a few of the best instructors in the region for shows and workshops in Natal, Allan decided there was enough demand to open his own dance school with 2 other friends.
With so many contacts in hand from his trips, and willing to develop the dance scene in Natal even more, he started producing latin dance events in 2005 and in October of 2006, Allan produced the biggest latin dance event in the region, the DANSAL Nordeste, an event which included dance shows, workshops, live band, DJs and also one of the Brazilian regionals for the World Salsa Open in Puerto Rico. He produced the same event again in 2007, just a few weeks before he left Brazil to, once again, do another course in IT; this time in Australia.
The instructor/choreographer
Upon his arrival in Sydney, Allan joined Latin Dance Australia in October 2007. Since then, he has taught, choreographed, DJed and/or performed in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Newcastle and Canberra, and internationally in New Zealand, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates. Well known for his fun teaching style and smooth moves, Allan is also recognised as one of the main promoters of Zouk and Samba de Gafieira in Australia.
